Metropolitan Optical – Pennsylvania Ave.

My first ever eye exam was done at Metro Optical. This place was so clean and had an amazing atmosphere. The front desk woman was very kind and explained all processes nicely. The tech who took tests on my eyes was nice as well. The actual eye doctor was so sweet and cheerful I would recommend anyone do business with her. She explained everything so intelligently and in a digestable way, I would go back to her for any other eye exam I need. The worker who helped pick out glasses was also a very swell guy. He was kind when explaining costs and helping find the right pair of glasses. I recommend anyone who needs to get their eyes checked out to come here!

This is the best Optimetrist Ive been to in the DC area. I was previously at a Visual Affair and had a negative experience with their staff. I was looking for somewhere else and came across Metropolitan Óptical on Zocdoc. The staff was incredibly friendly. I was greeted as soon as I arrived. I came pretty early, but they made sure that I got my tests out of the way early and then I saw the doctor. My appointment was quick and efficient, but I also learned things about my eys that I hadn't known before. I also have a lot of anxiety with my eye, but they helped me breathe through the various tests that often are a challenge for me. Every staff member I interacted with was fantastic. I will definitely be returning!

I’ve seen Dr. Ayalew for over a decade and I highly recommend her and her medical assistants. They have magical tricks for putting drops in my eyes when needed and for doing the tests. Someone wrote in a review when I was deciding where to go that Dr. Ayalew could tweak the prescription so that it was like seeing in HD and it’s very true! She is very understanding and has such a nice and calm manner. For picking out glasses I highly recommend Dee (at the Penn Ave location) and Emma (who is sometimes at the Penn Ave location and sometimes at the 18th St location). Both are so sweet and honest when helping you pick out appropriate frames and lenses. This time I got computer glasses for the first time, which are fantastic for being able to see multiple screens at work at a medium distance and my phone closer up. Dee patiently explained the choices in lenses and frames and expertly adjusted the frames to fit my small face. Thanks!

Dr. Stupiansky is fantastic. Her exam was very thorough and she explained a lot more than I’ve ever had another Optometrist do. The rest of the staff was also great and they fixed some of my older glasses that I got at a different company. Highly recommend.

Dr. Stupiansky is brilliant and her staff are so kind! They've curated a really versatile collection of glasses and know exactly how to pick glasses for different people/faces in an impressively short time. Not to mention, they're not a big monopoly and the owner is a really good person. I can't imagine going anywhere else now.

The people at Metropolitan Optical, especially Mr. Paul Allen, are so welcoming, kind, and knowledgeable. I have spent four years living in D.C. while studying at university, and have always had difficulties with my glasses fitting properly given my complex lenses. I likely visited their office nearly two dozen times throughout my time in college, and was always assisted and treated with patience. If you are looking for an optometry office in the District, Metropolitan Optical should be your first choice!

Great! Experience. =D Once i walked in i was greeted, Signing papers are the old age because they have a tablet to sign and mention any medical issues or past records you may have. (Paperless) Stephanie is so kind and sweet, the machines they have, gave them perfect details of my eye. (Keep up the good work) DR. Stupiansky , showed me a detail picture of my eye and explained what I have... she is nice and polite. Can't forget about Paul , he help me pick a perfect titanium frame that suite me well. ( how he knew I like titanium..) Overall I recommend coming here for an eye exam and or frames . ( can bring in your own frames too, optional)

Everyone from the staff to Dr. Stupiansky was nice and knowledgeable. The doctor took her time with me and made me feel comfortable and like I was in good hands. Definitely would recommend metropolitan optical!
